Let the beauty of what you do…

Rumi-inspirational-quote

This Rumi quote came up on my newsfeed this morning and it instantly caught my attention. I know this sounds cliche, but the timing for this quote is perfect…. especially with the new year just around the corner. This week I will be taking a little extra time in meditation and quiet reflection to get clear on my intentions for the upcoming year. How about you?

“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” ~Rumi

Become a Lion

Osho Quote

Osho

I’ve been spending a couple hours each week or two organizing all of my notebooks that are full of notes from different workshops and training, random quotes, and class plans and I came across this gem. And I love it!

“The greatest fear in the world is of the opinions of others. And the moment you are unafraid of the crowd you are no longer a sheep, you become a lion. A great roar arises in your heart, the roar of freedom.” ~Osho

Watch your thoughts; they become words.

Sunset over the Ionian Sea and this beautiful quote from the Upanishads.

I read this quote in my Yin class tonight at Midtown Juniper Yoga. This time of year is a time of introversion and reflection… fall turning to winter. It’s also a time where due to our holiday schedule we spend a bit more time with the family and for some this can bring up a lot of deep seated issues. This quote speaks to that. How can we cultivate more compassion and more love while still practicing ahimsa toward ourselves and them? Remember “attitude is everything”.

Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny.

~Upanishads

A Quote for Compassion and Understanding

When-you-plant-lettuce-Thich-Nhat-Hanh

When you plant lettuce…

I was going through my quote document today and I found this quote and it seemed so poignant with everything going on in the world. Share your light fellow yogis and yoginis.

Here is the quote for those of you who aren’t able to see the image.

When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you don’t blame the lettuce. You look for reasons it is not doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. You never blame the lettuce. Yet if we have problems with our friends or family, we blame the other person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will grow well, like the lettuce. Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and argument. That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no argument, just understanding. If you understand, and you show that you understand, you can love, and the situation will change.

Thich Nhat Hanh

I placed this quote over an image from Itha108’s site showcasing organic produce from Ithaca and Kefalonia. Itha108 is our host this year for our Pure Bliss Greek Island Yoga Retreat on Ithaca. Check it out.
