Patagonia Yoga Retreat Highlights
There’s a part of you that has never fully gone quiet — the part that wants to stand somewhere wild, do the thing that scares you a little, and feel fully, unmistakably alive. You know her. You’ve probably been telling her “later.”
This women’s yoga retreat in Patagonia is a journey into the wild — of Patagonia, of your soul, of everything you’ve been craving but haven’t yet allowed yourself to fully experience.
This Patagonia yoga retreat is eight days of getting her back.
Picture standing in a wide valley with a mountain rising in front of you and nothing between you and it — no inbox, no one needing anything, just cold clean air and a quiet so big your whole body wakes up. The rainforest around you is deep evergreen, and up on the slopes it’s turned red and gold, the way Patagonia does in autumn. Your legs are tired from the trail in the best way. You’re laughing with women who were strangers three days ago.
This isn’t an escape from your life. It’s a few days wild enough to remind you who you are underneath all of it — that you’re still strong, still curious, still capable of awe, and that there’s far more life available to you than you’ve been letting yourself believe.
“This was literally a life-changing experience. It was worth every penny and more. I felt completely supported, serene, and inspired to attend another retreat.” — Lindsey W. · Patagonia 2026
What Is the UnBound Method?
The UnBound Method is how Autumn structures this retreat: five threads that run through every practice, hike, and conversation across the week. It’s not a vibe — it’s a repeatable approach she’s built over 13 years of leading women into wild places.
Face the fear. Patagonia gives you real things to move toward — a full day in the back country, a kayak on open water. Doing the slightly scary thing in a supported group is how confidence gets built.
Reconnect with what lights you up. Most women arrive having lost track of it. Space, beauty, and laughter are how you find it again.
Confidence on and off the mat. What you practice in your body — effort, ease, trusting yourself — you carry home into your real life.
Healthy boundaries. A week where you say yes to yourself is practice for the boundaries that hold once you’re back.
Manifesting — the real version. Not wishing. Clarity plus a regulated nervous system plus aligned action over time. You can’t manifest from a depleted nervous system — which is exactly why this work starts with rest.
The practice underneath it all: Rooted & Radiant Vinyasa. This is Autumn’s signature sequencing — the method behind how she teaches. It grounds you and creates safety first, builds a wave of healthy effort and energy, then settles you into deep rest. Over the week, that arc trains your nervous system to move fluidly between effort and ease — the flexibility and resilience that, off the mat, lets you get clear on what you actually want and take action on it. And it’s taught through curiosity and exploration, not “the one right way to do the pose” — so you leave trusting your own body and your own judgment a little more than when you arrived.
This Retreat Is For You If...
- You've been craving more — more aliveness, more adventure, more of your own life — and you're done putting it off
- You want to do something hard and beautiful, not just lie on a beach
- You're drawn to real wilderness, not a curated wellness backdrop
- You love being outside and moving your body, and you want to feel that fully again
- You've spent years showing up for everyone else, and you're ready to choose yourself for once
- You want to be among women who get it, without having to explain
- You want to live fully now — not someday, when everything's finally handled
- You want to come home stronger, clearer, and trusting yourself more than when you left
What Makes the Patagonia UnBound Yoga & Adventure Retreat Different
Real wilderness, not a backdrop. Tawa Refugio sits deep in the Puelo Valley, reached by a drive through Cochamó and then by water. This is rural Patagonia — gaucho country — not a polished resort with a yoga label on it.
No influencer yoga. No posed photos. No spiritual hustle. Just real movement, real women, real places — and the empowerment and joy that come from doing hard, beautiful things together.
Taught with the science underneath. Autumn teaches with neuroplasticity, the nervous system, the RAS, and aligned action — not magical thinking. Rest first, and let real change follow.
13 years. 40+ retreats. 700+ women. Mostly aged 35–60, mostly arriving alone. Real ages, real bodies, real stories.
Will I fit in? Almost every woman asks herself this before she books — usually at 11pm, reading the page for the third time. So here’s the honest answer: yes. And here’s who you’ll be among.
We’re business owners. We’re school teachers. We’re techies. We’re Girl Scout leaders. We’re fellow yoga & pilates teachers. But we’re a pretty down-to-earth, say it like it is group.
But, like you, we’re more than the professional titles. We’re the type that choose unapologetic joy. If there’s a pup around, we’re going to love on it. We hug trees, lie in the grass, and we don’t get embarrassed about it. We get a little giddy when someone spots wildlife — a king fisher perched on a branch, a pudu in the brush, whatever the day gives us. We’d rather have a small group that truly connects than a big one that doesn’t — quality over quantity, always.
We care about your heart, your comfort, and your growth — genuinely, not as a tagline. We celebrate each other here: your win is everybody’s win, and the small brave things get cheered. We honor each other’s boundaries. We treat one another and the land with respect, we practice Leave No Trace because this wild place is somebody’s home too, and we treat the staff like family.
Picture This...
Picture yourself mid-week.
You move through a slow morning flow on a wooden platform with the valley opening in front of you, and your body, which has been bracing for months, finally lets go.
You’ve stopped reaching for your phone the second you wake up. Instead you lie still and listen — the river, the wind moving through the trees, a bird you don’t have a name for yet.
After breakfast, you board a boat for the Cuatro Lagos expedition — a full day winding deep into the back country, between lakes and through forest, into the kind of Patagonia almost no one sees. You walk land that gauchos have worked for generations. You eat lunch outside. You laugh more than you have in a long time. Somewhere out there, with a mountain in front of you and nothing to manage, you notice your shoulders have dropped two inches and stayed there.
Another day, the hot springs at Termas del Sol — ten stone pools fed by the Yate volcano, steam rising into cold mountain air, then the Ritual Patagónico circuit: sauna, steam room, and warm herbal soaking tubs. Another, a half-day on the water — a kayak gliding across a glassy autumn lake, the only sound your own paddle.
By the time you leave, you don’t just feel rested. You feel awake. Lighter. More like yourself than you’ve been in a long time.
“What a grounding, inspiring and nourishing adventure this was. The surrounding nature in itself would have been worth the trip. I left feeling refreshed, centered, and inspired.” — Cindy P. · Patagonia 2026
What's a Day in Patagonia Like?
Here's the eight-day shape (not a rigid timetable; order flexes with weather and the group).
A typical day moves from morning movement, through an adventure or rest block, into an evening practice — with real downtime built in.
- Day 1 — Arrive. Group transfer from Puerto Varas through Cochamó to Tawa Refugio. Settle in, welcome dinner, opening circle & short practice.
- Day 2 — Land. Morning vinyasa, an orientation walk along the river, restorative evening practice, first fire.
- Day 3 — Cuatro Lagos expedition. Full day by boat and on foot, deep into the back country and gaucho culture. Roll & Restore in the evening to soften & receive before bed.
- Day 4 — On the water. Slower morning practice, half-day kayaking, open afternoon for the soaking tubs, Yoga Nidra at dusk.
- Day 5 — Termas del Sol. The volcanic hot springs and Ritual Patagónico circuit (optional horseback or massage add-ons). Gentle evening yoga + workshop.
- Day 6 — Go inward. Morning flow, a workshop on intention, boundaries, and aligned action, free afternoon, sunset practice.
- Day 7 — Integrate + celebrate. Final practices, closing ceremony, celebration dinner together.
- Day 8 — Depart. A quiet morning, group transfer to the airport, goodbyes.
“I came with the weight of the world dragging me down, and then it feels like you’re taking off a big heavy jacket and leaving it on the floor — and you’re free to rise up and take up the space you deserve. I’m going home with more to give, since I’ve finally been kind enough to give to myself.” — Vala P. · Patagonia 2026 (returner)

I felt so grounded in this magical place. All the weight of the world I had been carrying around with me immediately melted away, and I was able to refill my empty cup with the natural stream waters of Patagonia. Morning and evening yoga, fire heated hot tubs, amazing vistas, invigorating excursions including hiking in the rainforest, kayaking, and horseback riding. And the food!! Did I mention the food?? Perfection! Every moment of this adventure was healing and full of magic. I am leaving with a new network of women that have my back, and I will forever keep in touch with them. If you have the opportunity to go on a retreat with Autumn and Ambuja Yoga, you absolutely must give yourself that gift.

Cindy P. Brooklyn, NY"I left feeling refreshed, centered, and inspired." "The location of the retreat in itself would have been worth the trip! Autumn created such a wonderful container for our retreat. Her yoga, as always, was thoughtful and energetically calibrated to the moment and to the group's needs. She has a unique talent to both casually and powerfully create the space and conditions for connections with group that builds slowly toward a powerful moment and authentic moment at the end. I left feeling refreshed, centered, and inspired - and with tools that I can use to build on my own return to yoga as well as my ongoing spiritual growth.

Why We Love Tawa Refugio
Tawa Refugio
We love Tawa. Genuinely, and not unreasonably. It sits in one of the most beautiful corners of green Patagonia — right where Lake Tagua Tagua pours into the Puelo River, ringed by evergreen rainforest and the Andes — so far off the map that getting there feels like being let in on a secret.
The lodge itself is magic: wood and glass tucked into the hillside, with windows that hand you the water and the mountains from nearly every room. The beds are deep, the riverside hot tubs are always waiting, and the food — oh, the food — is some of the best you’ll eat anywhere: local, seasonal, and a little show-offy in the very best way.
And the people are what make it. Tawa is family-run, and they fold you in like you’ve always belonged here; the guides know every trail and hidden lake in this valley and clearly love showing it off. It’s that rare place that celebrates both halves of a great retreat — wild adventure by day, deep rest by night — and when the autumn rain rolls in, it only gets cozier. We can’t wait for you to fall for it the way we have.

You’ll fly into Puerto Montt, Chile (PMC – El Tepual Airport). Group transportation from Puerto Varas to the retreat is included.
Puerto Varas is a quaint German village set on a lake. It’s the perfect basecamp for our adventure.
Small enough to be walkable. Modern enough to find anything you may have left at home. Easy to get to from Puerto Montt (about a 25 minute drive — <$20 uber)
We strongly suggest flying in a day early. We gather for lunch at 12:30 in Puerto Varas on April 10th.
The lodge is a 2.5-3 hour drive through Cochamó into the Puelo Valley, and scheduled group airport transfers from Puerto Varas are included.
A basic understanding of yoga is adequate for this retreat. Classes are taught for every level, with options offered in every pose (more accessible and more challenging options are provided), and you’re never required to do anything that doesn’t feel right in your body.
We recommend arriving April 8th-9th to recover from jetlag. We gather for lunch in Puerto Varas on April 10th at 12:30 pm and begin the drive to the venue around 1:30/2:00 pm.
We will depart Tawa Refugio at 11 am. We recommend booking your outbound flight after 4 pm on April 17th or extending your stay.
Yes — most women come alone. By the second day it rarely feels that way. The group is capped at 14, and the whole week is built for connection.
For luxury: Hotel Awa. For affordable: Hotel Cabana del Lago. Both are lovely options near the lake.
We recommend staying within walking distance of the center for easy access to cafes, restaurants, and artisan markets.
U.S. citizens do not need a visa. You’ll receive a 90-day tourist card upon arrival. Passport must be valid for 6+ months beyond your trip.
Yes. Horseback riding with local gauchos (water level dependent) and massage are available as optional add-ons, bookable separately before or during the retreat.
Your $1,000 deposit is non-refundable. No refunds within 90 days of retreat start. We strongly recommend ‘Cancel for Any Reason’ travel insurance.
And, yes, you can transfer your reservation to a friend if unexpected circumstances arise.
Due to the remote nature of this trip, travel insurance with medical and medical evacuation is required. You can add Trawick travel insurance at checkout or find your own.
You may want to ensure that your policy covers hiking, kayaking, and horseback riding (if you’re adding horseback riding on).
Proof of insurance required within 21 days of booking.
Other optional expenses: additional excursions, massage, souvenirs, shopping in Puerto Varas, and staff & guide gratuities.
Recommended gratuity for guides $20-30 per excursion.
Recommended gratuity for hotel staff $70.
Flights are not included. Group transportation from Puerto Varas to the retreat IS included.
Termas del Sol is a natural volcanic hot springs spa at the foot of the Yate volcano — ten stone pools running 36–45°C, plus an adults-only Ritual Patagónico circuit with a sauna, steam room, and herbal soaking tubs.
We believe in enjoying life’s pleasures mindfully. Chilean wine, local beer, and craft cocktails are available.
We accommodate dietary needs — share yours at booking and meals will be prepared with them in mind. Our chefs will ensure you’re well-nourished throughout the retreat.
A note on the food: it is, honestly, incredible! Breakfast buffet, 3 course meals in house (delicious boxed meals when we’re out and about). The diet in Chile leans harder into animal proteins than perhaps what you’re used to back home, although vegetarian options are available.
Moderate. You should be comfortable walking 7 km over the course of a day for the Cuatro Lagos expedition, but activities are scalable and nothing is mandatory. You can opt out of any excursion.
Most guests are between 35 and 60. Real ages, real bodies, real stories — there’s no “type” here.
Of course not! We encourage you to CHOOSE YOURSELF. Some days that might mean skipping yoga to walk or sleep in. No pressure. No guilt.
April is mid-autumn in Patagonia and our guides’ favorite month of the year — a little cooler, occasionally wet, with shorter days and the forests not just turning red and gold with autumn color, but coming alive with a stunning array of fungi.
Expect crisp mornings, a chance of rain some days, sunshine other days, and genuinely beautiful fall color. Pack warm, waterproof layers.
All guides are trained in emergency first aid. There’s a clinic 15 minutes away in Puelo. The community works together to ensure guests receive needed care.
Due to the remote nature of this trip, travel insurance with medical and medical evacuation coverage is required.
Layers, a waterproof rain shell, warm base layers, sturdy shoes for walking and trekking, swimwear for the soaking tubs and hot springs, and a reusable water bottle. A full packing list is sent after booking.
For reference, we have a Patagonia packing list blog post here.
All rooms overlook the river and forest, offer a private bathroom, and can sleep 1-4.
This year we are offering three different room tiers.
Tier 1: Quad Shared
Tier 2: Double Shared
Tier 3: Private Single
Most women come on retreat because some part of them already knew it was time — for rest, yes, but also for the version of their life that has more wilderness in it, more laughter, more aliveness. You're allowed to want that. You don't have to earn it first. The wild is calling. Are you ready to answer?
Can’t make it this year?
